Impresario Casual-Game-Concept

“Impresario”, our gesture and voice controlled theater game concept, is finally completed. It is designed as an online multi player game for the upcoming xbox360 with kinect extension. This extension offers highly detailed full body motion capture of up to four players in front of the screen. The gained information is used to interact with the corresponding game.

“Impresario” is the visual output of our Bachelor thesis “Theater as a Casual Game”. It is written and designed by Peer Dräger and Joschka Wolf at the department of media design at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in 2010.

IBM’s City One: A Smarter Planet Game

Ever dreamed with being the Mayor of your own city? Ok, the video game SimCity has already done that before but what about a game with REAL problems or as IBM says: a real world game with real world impact.
The game “City One” was presented on May 4th but as it is going to be delivered in the latter half of this year, the buzz around the game is increasing.
Forget about the simple options like building enough houses or bigger streets, the mission of this game is not only build your city, but also make it smarter, revolutionize the industry, solve real-world business problems, deal with pollution issues, water supply, energy efficiency, banking and retail innovation, all of this using IBM solutions of course.
As a fan of this kind of games I can’t wait to try it I only hope they don’t took the “fun” out of it.
By the way, the trailer is really good and you can find more and subscribe for updates at the game site.

GPS Tracking makes it into Video Games

With its Data Logger Visualization Technology, players will be able to log a ride and replay it in their Grand Turismo Game. The amazing thing is that the game looks more realistic than the orginal video.

I wish this type of technology was available for more simulators, like MS Flight Simulator, as I doubt many people will get on a race track for real.

Seen on Ozan Haliki’s FB stream.
