Space Planes by Samsung

Pretty cool idea by Samsung to prove the durability of their chips. Now don’t be a spoil-sport and ask me about the GRP of releasing 200 paper planes in space. That’s not the point. The point is: planes. Space. Get it? Ok.

It’s great to see brands dare do things off the usual marketing track.

At any rate, it would be nice if there was a follow-up on if anyone ever found one of the planes and if in fact the chips are intact. Update: you can see it on http://projectspaceplanes.com/ Maybe a URL in the viral video would have been a good idea.

You know Scientists get desperate when…

… they use a social networking phenomenon to say that aliens are contacting us.

Granted, Mail online isn’t exactly known for Pulitzer material, but still:

While any ‘lost in space’ messages wouldn’t exactly be restricted to 140 characters, as on the website, a study suggests ET is more likely to send out short, directed messages than continuous signals beamed in all directions.

The reason?

Because alien civilisations are likely to strive to limit waste and make their signalling technology efficient.

Thank god for Twitter. We have finally found a medium for aliens!

Virgin: Brand Extension in a new Dimension

Virgin: Brand Extension in a new Dimension

null

Brand extension has always been a technique for creating new brand experiences. Oftentimes it’s just about labeling familiar experiences by putting them under a new umbrella. But this one is an example for claiming a completely new territory: gaining access to an experience that everyone knows - but only via images and mass media. Tickets cost $200,000 and deposits start from $20.000. Booking: Virgin Galactic
