A Little Apple-Enabled Holiday Fun
A lovely selection of Christmas music using iPhones and iPads at North Point Community Church. Yeah - it’s a little gimmicky, but they really did a good job picking out the perfect apps to pull this off. Enjoy!

“Hacking” Google Street View for Buzz Marketing a band
In an attempt to find yet another way to create buzz, the band “Editors” present themselves and their new album in the context of Google Street View. Of course, it is not a real hack but more an overlay (or mash-up) of their own content in the context of their website. Still, even it is a novelty one-off, it is a great idea to use technology like this, and it is well executed. User can use well-known google maps and street view navigation to listen to the album’s songs and see the band members hiding in the streets of London.

Niche product benchmark: iPhone mixer
Talk about selling to a narrow target audience. This music mixer appliance lets you mix the songs of 2 iPhones. I know a lot of people who have two cellphones. But I don’t know anyone who has two iPhones. Maybe the hope is that DJs will get a second iPhone to be more mobile going to gigs and so they can leave their rig at home?

Putpat.tv
I recently wrote about new personalized web music and entertainment channels opening up. I finally got my beta access to Putpat.tv and I must say I dig it. It also allows you to import your last.fm list, so no need to reenter your music tastes from scratch.

Shareholder Value
Angelika Express is an indie rock band hailing from Cologne and they will produce a record – if you let them. They are financing their album by selling shares of it to individual investors. In return, the investor will own a percentage of the album and reap the financial rewards of any success. Morton Valence has done that as well in the past and it worked quiet well. Interesting approach and not the first time that small bands make use of the internet and suddenly turn into the next big thing.
