IKEA Cinema Catalogue

Guerilla promotion teams equipped with powerful portable projectors brought names and prices of IKEA products during the movie on the screen – next to Brad Pitt, George Clooney and other famous actors. This surprising execution fits perfectly to the IKEA principle: surprise the many people with fresh ideas for everybody’s everyday life. After the show we consequently distributed IKEA catalogues in front of the cinema.  (adsoftheworld)

what a great find from tiago! :-)

look here to.

litte addition: its not new. remember this ??

The overlaying of text on screen in this scene from David Fincher’s Fight Club bears an uncanny relationship to recent experiments with information graphics in augmented reality research. It also offers a clever and self-reflexive meta-commentary on the conventions of product-placement that is increasingly common in contemporary feature films. (via)

Smart Social Marketing Hacks

Want to do some Social Marketing for your brand but don’t know anyone who could code a Facebook App for you? IKEA shows you what to do:

All this with onboard Facebook features. Kind of “Ikea” to do it this way, isn’t it? Creativity has the power …

(On a related note: will Facebook, from now on, suggest they found a picture of me every time someone uploads an image with LACK in the background???)
(On another related note: Who said Social Media can only be used for marketing, not for sales?!)

In-game branding and advertising case: Ikea

A lot of hype has been building over in-game branding and advertising. Also it has spawned a lot of discussion on effectiveness and questions about how you measure engagment of the user with the game vs the engagement with the advertising in the game. Here is an example that is very good as it makes the advertising a real experience, and a part of the actual game flow and story.

Ikea created virtual furniture for the well-known SIMS game. Not only the furniture unmistakably IKEA, but it is key element of the game to furnish your home. So engagment should be easily measurable, and top of it it: since the furniture is virtual, you don’t even have to put it together. :-)

Nils waits for the new IKEA catalogue - 24h a day LIVE

This idea seems to be a big one - having experience with the make IKEA without communicating it. The swedish company launched 3 days ago a viral plattform showing Nils waiting for the IKEA catalogue - live, in color & with sound. Likely, there’s no better experience to see people NOT having any IKEA furniture at home.

For me it’s the first viral idea which is really interactive and authentic. You can call, mail and send letters to Nils - Entertainment for all voyeuers & Big Brother fanatics.
